Songwriters For A
Cause started in August 2009. From a song written for a good
cause,to getting a group of
songwriters together to write songs for a cd and then sell it to benefit the cause.
The songwriting and music community got together to write,
perform, to donate their time, money and effort to make this
project a success and create a spectacular CD for a cause.
We are planning to release our first CD for a cause in
2010.

Cover concept came from: Cari Scholes, 1st place winner of
the "Decorate A Bra" contest at the Cup O'Karma charity
event held in September 2009.
"As a domestic violence counselor, I am continually inspired
by individuals who create dramatic, positive change in their
lives. Through their courage, and social service support, I am
fortunate to witness survivors break free and experience a
powerful life transformation that is quite beautiful. It is
evident to me that social responsibility plays a key role: It
simply takes one person to get involved, educate and care. I was
inspired by the idea of bringing Domestic Violence out of the
darkness and into the light. The dark side of the bra represents
hidden aspects of Domestic Violence, such as shame, low
self-esteem, feeling trapped, entanglement, loss of control, as
well as physical or spiritual scarring. The light side of the bra
represents self empowerment, positive self esteem, personal
growth, healthy boundaries, insight, and the inner beauty of
confidence. The left side, made of twisted, dark branches and a
heavy chain, is contrasted by white feathers, petals and words of
wisdom. Within the copper webbing you will find an entrapped
butterfly, which reappears free and ready for flight on the
opposite side. The bra is meant to conceptualize the good that can
come from social exposure, in contrast to how denial and secrecy
perpetuate dysfunction. It symbolizes the dramatic transformation
possible through bringing that which was once kept in
darkness....into the light." Cari Scholes
